From Stimulator to Suppressor

Triptorelin is a textbook illustration of the GnRH pulse paradox weaponized. By lasting long enough to deliver a continuous signal, it downregulates pituitary GnRH receptors and suppresses LH/FSH — first a transient surge, then a sustained crash in testosterone or estrogen.

That property is exactly why it's a clinical drug for prostate cancer (suppress the testosterone that feeds the tumor) and precocious puberty (halt premature gonadal activation). It's the same receptor and the same hormone class as gonadorelin — the only difference is duration, and duration flips stimulation to suppression.
