From Stimulator to Suppressor

Triptorelin is a textbook illustration of the GnRH pulse paradox weaponized. By lasting long enough to deliver a continuous signal, it downregulates pituitary GnRH receptors and suppresses LH/FSH — first a transient surge, then a sustained crash in testosterone or estrogen.

That property is exactly why it's a clinical drug for prostate cancer (suppress the testosterone that feeds the tumor) and precocious puberty (halt premature gonadal activation). It's the same receptor and the same hormone class as gonadorelin — the only difference is duration, and duration flips stimulation to suppression. Members discuss it as the clearest proof that in endocrinology, the pattern of delivery can matter as much as the molecule.
