Preserving Muscle During Weight Loss

By Community Member

A well-documented concern with rapid GLP-1-mediated weight loss is the loss of lean muscle mass alongside fat. Members researching GLP-1 agonists share that maintaining adequate protein intake (roughly 1.6–2.2 g/kg) and consistent resistance training appears to preserve lean mass.

This thread collects member approaches to combining semaglutide research with strength-training logs and protein-tracking habits. Note: in SURMOUNT-1, fat-mass reduction was roughly 3× the lean-mass reduction, but the lean component still warrants attention.
