Overview
A pegylated form of Mechano Growth Factor (MGF) in which a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain is attached to extend the peptide's otherwise minutes-long half-life. The pegylation preserves MGF's satellite-cell-activating mechanism while giving it a practical duration of action that native MGF lacks.
Mechanism of action
PEG-MGF is MGF with a polyethylene glycol polymer attached, which increases the molecule's hydrodynamic size and shields it from enzymatic degradation and renal clearance. This extends the half-life from minutes to hours, allowing the satellite-cell-activating signal of MGF to persist long enough to be practically useful. The underlying biology — local activation of muscle stem cells for repair — is the same as native MGF; pegylation changes the pharmacokinetics, not the mechanism.
