Mechanism of action
B7-33 is derived from the relaxin B-chain and reproduces the anti-fibrotic signaling of the parent hormone relaxin, which acts through the relaxin family peptide receptor 1 (RXFP1) to inhibit fibroblast collagen deposition and promote extracellular matrix remodeling. Fibrosis is essentially healing that overshoots — excessive scarring that stiffens organs. B7-33 targets that overshoot, and by isolating the relevant B-chain sequence it delivers the anti-fibrotic signal without the bulk and complexity of the full relaxin hormone.
